31st Josef Vavroušek Student Award Competition
This competition builds on the legacy of Josef Vavroušek, who was deeply engaged in the concept of sustainable development—understood as a balanced relationship between humans, society, and nature, with responsibility toward both present and future generations. If your work in the social sciences addresses these topics, you are encouraged to apply.
You are eligible to apply if you are a student or a recent graduate of a Czech or Slovak university (regardless of nationality) and your bachelor’s, master’s, rigorous, or doctoral thesis was defended in the current or previous academic year. Submissions are accepted in Czech, Slovak, or English.
Your work will be evaluated by an expert committee composed of representatives from leading universities. Successful applicants will receive a financial award and an invitation to a ceremonial diploma presentation at the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, in November 2026.
To apply, you must submit your thesis in both electronic and printed form, together with the application form and reviewers’ reports. The application deadline is July 24, 2026.

The dean presented awards to the best students of the Faculty of Science MU. Among the best doctoral students were Martin Kopecký, Pavel Špaček and Martin Havlásek from the Department of Biochemistry. Congratulations to all awardees!
