The historic success of the iGEM Brno team at the global finals of the iGEM Grand Jamboree in Paris is strongly grounded in the work of students and alumni from our department and the National Centre for Biomolecular Research. The team, which won first place in the Overgraduate category and received additional awards for Best Food and Nutrition Project, Best Plant Synthetic Biology, Best Presentation Video, and a prestigious Gold Medal, includes a number of talented students from the Department of Biochemistry and NCBR, Faculty of Science, Masaryk University.
The honorary recognition awarded to the team by the Dean of the Faculty of Science is not only an acknowledgement of their collective achievements but also a testament to the long-term effort the students invest in both their academic and research activities.

Their expertise, teamwork, and strong work ethic contributed significantly to the success of the project, which impressed the judges with its innovative application of synthetic biology and its professionally executed presentation.

The dean presented awards to the best students of the Faculty of Science MU. Among the best doctoral students were Martin Kopecký, Pavel Špaček and Martin Havlásek from the Department of Biochemistry. Congratulations to all awardees!
Masaryk University has awarded another 13 MASH StG/CoG grants to promising researchers. Seven of them are from our faculty. One of them was given to Michaela Dzurov Krafčíková for her project MITOCODE!
